Roun is a 40-year-old father of four from Cambodia. He lives in rural Kratie province and works as a rice farmer, along with his wife. Two of his children are still in school, and the older two children help support the family by working as a blacksmith and running a street cart that sells grilled bananas. In his free time, Roun likes to go fishing in the Mekong River.
Around eight months ago, Roun injured his hand at home. Since then, a mass has developed, which has grown in size and is tender to touch. The provincial hospital suggested he travel to Phnom Penh for treatment. He experiences discomfort and is worried about the continued growth of the mass. His surgeon plans to remove the mass and send a sample for histology.
Roun traveled to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), to seek treatment. On July 9th, Roun will undergo a mass removal surgery. His family can contribute $75 but but needs help to raise $269 more to fund his procedure and care.
Roun shared, “I hope I can have the mass removed and not worry about this anymore.”
