Winfred is a 49-year-old mother of two from Uganda. After separating from her husband a decade ago, she pursued her education to senior six and now serves as an accountant at Kitumba Church of Uganda. Her motherhood journey has been challenging, requiring Caesarean births for both of her babies as a result of preeclampsia, a condition characterized by elevated blood pressure.
Winfred has been dealing with significant health issues, including persistent abdominal pain, heavy, abnormal bleeding and back pain, that prompted her to seek medical assistance. She was diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids and a hysterectomy was recommended, which involves the removal of the uterus. Financial limitations hindered her from receiving the surgery at a nearby hospital and have remained a major obstacle.
Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Winfred receive treatment. On March 23rd, surgeons at their care facility Rwibaale Health Center will perform surgery to relieve her symptoms and improve her quality of life. Now, Winfred needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Winfred says: “I am hopeful that after my treatment, I will be able to resume work.”
