Kikafunda is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is married with six children, who are all married and have their own families. Kikafunda and her husband both practice subsistence farming.
Fifteen years ago, Kikafunda began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty swallowing, heart palpitations, and neck disfigurement. She was diagnosed with a mulitnodular Goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Kikafunda receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on February 21 at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money.
Kikafunda says, “I will continue with cultivation when done surgery as I will be relieved of this condition that I have suffered for a long time.”
