Phearom is a 31-year-old garment factory worker from Cambodia. She is married, but does not have children. She enjoys watching TV Khmer dramas and listening to classical music.
Phearom was born with congenital strabismus, a condition that causes her blurred vision and an improper alignment of her eyes. She feels shy around other people while working and going places.
For $264, Phearom will undergo a squint correction surgery to allow her to see clearly again.
Phearom says, “I hope my eyes are good looking and more beautiful than now so that I don’t feel shy with my friends or anyone else so that I can continue to do my work and go anywhere outside with confidence and feel better than now.”

Phearom successfully received eye surgery.
Since she was born, Phearom has had an eye squint, causing her blurred vision and to feel very shy around others.
Today, Phearom’s treatment on both eyes went well! She was given eye drops to reduce inflammation, and she’s now on her way to a full recovery. Phearom is back at home now and healing, and with some time, is expected to have see great improvement in her vision.
“I feel very happy that my eyes look better and are beautiful again. I won’t have to feel shy around my friends and others,” Phearom shares. “I can continue my work and go places with confidence and I feel good about that.”
