Lucia is a baby from southern Bolivia. Her mother stays home with her, and her father is a delivery driver. Lucia was born with a heart condition called coarctation of the aorta. A major blood vessel leading to the heart is too small, which leaves Lucia weak and unable to properly grow. Additionally, she has turner syndrome. Lucia needs surgery to open the aorta to its full size. This will allow blood to flow more easily so she can grow up healthy. Lucia's mother states: "Our family is so happy to know that our daughter can finally have this surgery; we have been hoping for this opportunity since she was born."

Rosario is a cleaning lady from the Philippines. She has three children who have their own families. Her partner works as a part-time employee in a government agency and their combined income is barely enough for their family's needs. During her days off, she would spend her time singing karaoke with her children. Three years ago, she felt something in her throat. She had difficulty breathing and was easily tired. She was diagnosed with Multiple Colloid Adenomatous Goiter and needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Rosario receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on February 24th at Our Lady of Peace Hospital. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation is supporting a portion of the cost of her treatment and WSFP is raising the remaining $935 to cover the cost of Rosario's procedure and care. Rosario says, "I am extremely grateful for those who will help me get my surgery done. I am speechless. I went here with high hopes and God did not fail me. Thank you very much."

Vichet lives with his parents, younger sister, and two nieces in Kampong Cham province. His parents are retired farmers and his four siblings help support the family through work in farming and local construction jobs. Vichet was born with a condition called congenital syndactyly, a condition where some of the fingers on his left hand are fused. This not only makes him self-conscious but also makes it difficult to hold objects. Fortunately, our medical partner can help. On April 23rd, surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform a life-changing contracture release surgery and a skin graft on his left hand. This transformative surgery will empower him to use his fingers and hands more easily. While Vichet and his family can contribute $50, they need help to raise $437 to fund the procedure. After surgery, Vichet hopes to build confidence and would like to find a job near his home.
