Samang successfully received treatment to repair her dislocated elbow.

Samang is doing great! The surgery she had to mend her fractured elbow was a great success. Since the operation, she has been resting as well as going to physiotherapy to restore strength. She can now bend her arm much better and says she’s no longer feeling pain. She’s excited now that she’s healed to be able to do things by herself again and regain her independence!

“I am happy with the result!” says Samang, “I can now use my right elbow as normal and without pain.”

Samang is a 46-year-old farmer from Cambodia. She is married with two daughters and one son, and enjoys cooking food for her family and looking after her children.

Samang dislocated her right elbow in July when she fell while trying to adjust a mosquito net. The only treatment she has received was from a Khmer traditional healer, and this treatment did not fix the dislocation. Samang is in pain and cannot use her right elbow.

In order to seek further treatment, Samang traveled three hours with her husband to reach Watsi’s medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). Surgeons at CSC will perform a $450 joint stabilization surgery to relocate and secure her elbow. However, due to the seasonal and unpredictable nature of Samang’s work, she cannot afford to pay for her procedure.

Let’s help Samang cover her surgical costs so she can regain use of her arm and return to farming and caring for her family.
