Seven months ago, Sokthai fell from a mango tree and broke his hip and wrist. Sokthai’s friends and family rushed him to the village healer where he was put into a bamboo cast, but he has not healed properly. Now, Sokthai can only walk a few feet before the pain becomes unbearable, and he can’t sit in the same position for a long period of time without discomfort. If left untreated, Sokthai will never regain his mobility.
Fortunately, surgeons and Children’s Surgical Centre can perform operations to fix Sokthai’s fractured hip and wrist.
Sokthai, his parents, and his five siblings are rice farmers. His dream is to finish high school, which is taking a long time because he works so much. After he’s finished with high school, he wants to get an engineering degree and build houses. In his free time, Sokthai likes playing volleyball, which he hasn’t been able to do since his accident. We hope to raise the money CSC needs to cover the cost of Sokthai’s medical care and enable him to walk again, return to work, and live a normal life.
