Ou is an 81-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has two daughters and nine grandchildren. Her husband passed away during the Khmer Rouge regime.
Five years ago, Ou developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her significantly blurry vision, irritation, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Ou learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On November 9th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Ou shared, “After this surgery, I hope I can see everything clearly, my eye irritation goes away, and I can spend more time with my grandchildren and even visit new places.”
