Eduar was born in November 2016. He is his parents’ first child, and they are thrilled to have him in their lives. Unfortunately, however, Eduar’s mother is unable to produce enough breastmilk to nourish him.
This limited diet could have dangerous repercussions for Eduar’s health. Continuing to receive insufficient nutrients could lead to starvation and dehydration, as well as electrolyte imbalances that can cause seizures. Brain development could be compromised during this delicate time, putting Eduar at risk of long-term damage.
Fortunately, although lactation failure is dangerous, it is also easy to treat. Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, has already given Eduar a preliminary supply of formula. He will formally begin treatment on January 18. The nutritionist will work one-on-one with Eduar’s mother to teach her how to create a nutritious diet for her son.
However, Eduar’s parents cannot afford to pay for his treatment. His father works in agriculture, and his mother stays home to care for her infant. By contributing to Eduar’s fund, you can help raise the $1,107 needed to sponsor his care.
“We want him to walk, to play, to have happiness in life,” his parents say. “We want him to grow healthily to achieve his goals in life so that he can someday have a good career.”
