Sinath is a 34-year-old rice farmer and baker from Cambodia. He lives in Prey Veng province with his wife and two children. His wife stays home to care for their youngest child, while their older son is in 4th grade. Sinath works as a rice farmer, and also has a part-time job in a bread bakery as a baker and delivery driver. In his free time, he enjoys playing volleyball with his friends in the village.
On the 21st of February 2025, Sinath was delivering bread when he got into a motorbike accident that caused a fracture in his left femur. He went to an emergency clinic, and the doctors placed hardware to align the bone and encourage healing of the fracture. Now the fracture has healed, but he feels discomfort in his right thigh from the metalwork. The doctor at the clinic where Sinath gets care for his diabetes suggested he seek help from our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for hardware removal surgery.
On June 11th, Sinath will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will help him walk easily again and eliminate the discomfort caused by the metal. He can contribute $50 but needs your help to raise $328 more to fund his procedure and care.
Sinath shared, “I hope I can go back to work quickly and help support my family.”

Sinath’s hardware removal surgery was a success! He had been experiencing aching, stiffness, and a constant tugging sensation due to the hardware that was placed to help his fracture heal. After learning about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Center, Sinath decided to undergo this surgery to heal. His operation went well, and he stayed in the hospital overnight for observation and to receive antibiotics. The nursing team managed his pain, monitored the incision, and taught him how to keep the wound clean once he returned home. Sinath has been recovering well and will rest for a few days before starting to walk with a cane. He hopes to have reduced pain and more flexibility and confidence walking on uneven ground, all of which will help him to work more efficiently as a farmer and a baker once he fully recovers!
Sinath said, “My leg already feels lighter. I can move more easily, and I am ready to return to my fields. Thank you to the doctors at the hospital.”
