Monny is a 16-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives in a small community in Kampong Speu Province with his parents. His mother works in a garment factory, and his father is a rice farmer. He is the second of three children; his older brother is a university student, and his younger sister is in grade 8. He is in grade 10, enjoys math, and hopes to become a teacher when he grows up. In his free time, he likes listening to music and helping his mother with household chores.
About three months ago, a mass appeared on his right cheek. The mass sometimes decreases and sometimes increases. He experiences mild pain when the mass is touched, which causes discomfort and makes it difficult for him to focus on his studies and daily activities.
Monny traveled to our medical partner’s care center to receive treatment. On February 13th, surgeons at Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), will remove the mass. Monny’s family can contribute $50, but needs help raising $294 more to fund his procedure and care.
Monny’s mother said, “I hope the doctors can help my son with the lump on his cheek so he won’t have pain and can concentrate more on his studies.”
