Mark is a 22 year old small scale farmer, who left school early due to financial challenges. He currently lives with his married brother, while his parents - who are also farmers - live in a different part of the country.
Mark developed small, painless swellings behind both of his knees in February. As time went on, the swellings have started to increase in size, and by August, he began to experience pain, particularly when he walks or stands for a prolonged period of time. As a result, he has had to stop farming.
Mark sought help from doctors at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, where he was told that he would need to have the masses removed, in order to alleviate the nerve compression in his legs. On October 15th, surgeons at our medical partner’s care center Rushoroza Hospital will remove the masses, enabling Mark to return to a productive and active life. Now he needs your help to raise the $145 required to cover the cost of the surgery.
Mark says: “I wish and hope to live a normal life once again through surgery. I hope to be productive again like I used to be. I want to continue with farming after recovery to sustain myself.”
