“When I finish secondary school I hope to go to university and become a teacher,” says 17-year-old Akalu. Akalu is the fifth born of eight children and lives with his family in Ethiopia. He enjoys doing well in school and playing soccer. But recently his ability to do these activities has drastically changed.
Seven years ago a spontaneous bone infection appeared in Akalu’s right femur, causing swelling, continuous draining, and pain. The pain and difficulty walking has forced him to quit school. His family has exhausted their resources on hospital treatments but Akalu has yet to get well.
Fortunately, we can fund surgery to repair his bone and enable him to walk again for $535.
“After surgery, we expect to stop all drainage and pain,” African Mission Healthcare Foundation explains. “Akalu will be able to walk without difficulty and go to school.”
Let’s raise the funds so Akalu can return to a fulfilling and productive life!
