Adson is 74 years old and lives in a village in rural Lilongwe, Malawi. He is married, and all seven of his children are grown and living with their own families. At home, he lives with his wife and two grandchildren, relying on small-scale farming to feed them. Three months ago, Adson was involved in an accident at home. While moving around his yard, he stepped onto a sharp stick used to tie a goat, and it pierced through the flesh of his right foot. As he tried to free himself, fragments of the stick remained in the wound, leaving him in severe pain. He sought care and underwent a debridement procedure to remove damaged tissue, but the injury has taken time to heal. He has been attending follow-up clinics, and recently, doctors advised that he needs skin graft surgery to properly close the wound and restore function to his foot. Without this procedure, healing may remain slow and incomplete, making it difficult for him to walk and continue his daily activities. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Adson receive treatment. On May 6th, he will undergo a skin graft procedure to aid in the healing of his foot, so he can walk again. Adson is contributing to his treatment but needs to raise an additional $295 to fund the procedure. He says: "My wish is for my foot to heal, so I can walk again and continue looking after my home. I have tried what I can, but I do not have enough. I am asking for help so that I can get this treatment and be well again.”

Naisula is a two-month-old baby girl form Tanzania, the last-born child in a family of seven children. Sadly, her mother passed away shortly after giving birth to her. Naisula was then taken to an orphanage, where she has been cared for since infancy. Her father is a pastoralist who spends most of his time in the village. Naisula has clubfoot on her right foot, a condition in which the foot is turned inward. Without treatment, clubfoot may affect her ability to walk comfortably as she grows, and can make it difficult for her to wear regular shoes. Naisula has been scheduled to begin treatment on September 15th, with a series of gentle manipulations and casting to gradually correct the position of her foot. Afterwards, she will be provided with a foot abduction brace (FAB), which she will wear according to her treatment plan until the age of five, to help maintain the correction and prevent relapse. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $341 to fund Naisula's clubfoot repair. After treatment, Naisula has an excellent opportunity to walk comfortably as she grows up, and participate in everyday activities without the limitations her condition could otherwise cause. Naisula's guardian says: “Although she has already faced such a difficult beginning, we are hopeful that this treatment will give Naisula the chance to grow up healthy and walk comfortably like other children.”

Amriya is a seven-year-old girl from Ethiopia. Being the youngest of five children, this young student grew up in a lively home, surrounded by her three older brothers and her sister. With her mother managing the household and her father working as a driver, she was raised in a busy, loving environment. Since she was just one year old, Amriya has suffered from chronic tonsillitis. This persistent health struggle has become a major roadblock to her early education. Because the illness brings frequent, painful episodes, she often misses precious days in the classroom. When she is in school, the lingering discomfort makes it incredibly hard for her to concentrate on her lessons. Just as she should be building her academic foundation, she is forced to fight this constant, exhausting battle with her health. Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Amriya, which is scheduled to take place on May 23rd. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Amriya of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably. Amriya's parents shared, "Our greatest hope is for our youngest daughter to finally enjoy a healthy, normal childhood where she can focus on learning without the constant shadow of illness holding her back."
