Ravy is a 10-year-old student from Cambodia. He lives in Prey Veng province with his mother and older brother. His mother washes dishes at a local casino. His older brother stopped attending school after eighth grade and now works with their mother at the casino. Ravy is in grade four and loves Khmer history. At home, he likes to draw pictures and drink winter melon juice. When he grows up, he would like to be an artist. Ravy dreams of having a house when he is older, where he can draw pictures on all the walls.
When Ravy was about two years old, his mother noticed a small mass behind his right ear. It did not cause him any trouble until last year when his mother noticed it was quickly growing larger. She took him to a local hospital in their province, but she could not afford the cost of the removal of the mass. Although it is not painful, it has become uncomfortable for him, and other children have teased him about it because it is noticeable.
On July 1st, surgeons will remove the mass. Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, needs help to raise $344 to fund this procedure.
Ravy’s mother said, “I hope the doctors can remove it, and he will not have to worry about any future problems.”
