Yorn is a 78-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has three children, ten grandchildren, and enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio in her free time.
Three months ago, Yorn developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and irritation. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Yorn learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On September 9th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
“I hope that I will be able to see more clearly so I can go outside on my own and help the monks clean and cook at the pagoda.”
