Meet Manoj, a quiet 13-year-old student from Nepal who lives with his parents and four siblings.
“Manoj was scaling a wall with his friends when he fell over on his right arm,” our medical partner Possible reports. The impact of the fall fractured both bones in his forearm, causing swelling and pain for Manoj.
The fracture in Manoj’s arm is a huge burden on him and his family. “He needs help eating and wearing clothes,” Possible explains, “he’s been missing school as well.”
The financial weight is even more significant. Possible tells us, “while his mother looks after the children, his father tends to the farm and grazes cattle.” This income is not even enough to feed their family for the whole year, let alone pay for unexpected medical expenses.
Manoj’s father says, “I earn a modest income and can’t afford his treatment. Had it not been for the hospital, I would have tried to fix it in the traditional way by using bamboo sticks.”
Let’s help Manoj raise the $509 he needs for surgery to fix his arm. During his operation, “Manoj’s fractured bones will be aligned correctly and secured with the help of pins,” Possible states. After his procedure, Manoj will be able to return home to his family. He will be able to go to school, and lead a healthy happy childhood!
