Kenkombe is a 58-year-old farmer from Uganda. She is a widow and mother to four children. Through her farm, Kenkombe is barely able to cover the costs of family necessities.
Four years ago, Kenkombe began to notice a swelling on her left cheek. It has rapidly grown since then to the point where it now affects her eating and swallowing. Kenkombe was recently diagnosed with a cyst, and excision was recommended as the best course of treatment.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $187 to fund Kenkombe’s mass excision surgery. The procedure is scheduled to take place on June 29 and, once completed, will hopefully improve Kenkombe’s quality of life, allowing her to eat and swallow normally.
“I am worried about this condition, as it has made me uncomfortable in feeding,” says Kenkombe. “I hope to be fine after treatment and continue with my farming.”
