Kamuhangire is an elderly man who is still active as a farmer. His daily routine is to wake up early in the morning, do farming to earn a bit of income and, after work, he likes to sit at home while listening to the radio. His wife is also a small scale farmer and together they care for their three grandchildren. Due to education not being highly valued during his generation, Kamuhangire shared he only completed up to primary four as a student.
For 6 months, Kamuhangire has had right inguinal hernia. The hernia causes him pain especially when he strains on the farm or walks. He shared with a friend who recommended he visit our medical partner’s care center, Nyakibale Hospital. On review, Kamuhangire has had a hernia repair surgery recommended. The surgery would reduce instances of hernia strangulation and allow him to stay active. On August 3rd, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner’s care center.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $230 to fund Kamuhangire’s surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently.
Smiling and filled with hope, Kamuhangire says, “It will really be of great pleasure to see that my health is restored under your support and am looking forward to continuing farming to sustain my family.”
