20-month-old Doudley was born with a cardiac condition called ventricular septal defect, in which a hole exists between the two lower chambers of his heart. Blood leaks through this hole without first passing through the lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving Doudley sickly and weak. During open-heart surgery, a patch will be sewn over this hole.
Doudley lives in Haiti with his mother, father, and three siblings. His father is a security guard, and his mother cares for the children at home. He is a very curious boy and likes to explore every room he is in.
“I would like to say thank you for everyone who is helping God to answer our family’s prayers,” Doudley’s mother expresses.
Treatment is scheduled for May 1. It has already been subsidized by Gift of Life International, but Haiti Cardiac Alliance, our medical partner, has requested $1,500 more for Doudley’s surgery and hospital stay.
