A year ago, Smas was badly burned in a gasoline fire. Her family took her over the border to Thailand so she could get treatment. She stayed in a hospital there for six months. Smas recovered but now has severe burn contractures on her hands. They cause her to miss work and impair her ability to use them properly.
Smas is from a very rural area of Cambodia and lives near the border of Thailand. When she is not working, her favorite activity is to read books.
For $300, we can help fund a surgery to release the scar tissue on Smas’ hands. The surgery will help restore their function and let Smas get back to using her hands without impairment so she can work (and read!) normally again.
