Huoy is a one-year-old baby living with her family in Cambodia. She is an only child and enjoys playing with toy dolls.
Huoy was born with congenital cataracts. Huoy and her father visited our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). She was found with a cataract in each eye and was recommended surgical treatment.
Huoy needs a phacoemulsification and an intraocular lens implant in each eye, which will replace her internal lenses and restore her vision to full clarity. In total, the procedure, supplies, drugs, and three days of inpatient care will cost $225. Huoy’s family needs financial assistance to complete payment.
Huoy will have her vision cleared after full recovery from her surgery. Huoy’s parents are looking forward to the relief that will come after Huoy can see again.

Huoy received vision-restoring cataract surgery.
Huoy’s cataracts were successfully removed. Her family was given eye drops to apply daily to protect her from infection. She will be able to return when she is a few years older to have intra-ocular lens (IOL) implants. For now, the congenital cataracts have been removed and her vision has improved.
“I feel happy that my daughter will be able to see clearly now,” her father shared, “and play with other kids and go to school when she is older. Thank you to all that helped her have surgery.”
