28-year-old Vastin and her husband work as farm laborers in Uganda. Vastin came to our medical partner, the Kellermann Foundation (KF), for medical care to help her deliver a healthy baby.
“Vastin has had two previous C-sections and two previous still-births,” KF tells us. “She is a high-risk mother who will need monitoring and a C-section with this pregnancy.”
$303 will fund three prenatal care visits, an ultrasound, and a cesarian section to minimize risk to the baby during delivery, as well as a five-day stay in the hospital to recover after surgery. KF expects both Vastin and her baby to have a healthy recovery.
“Being part of the Watsi program will allow Vastin to come to the hospital early and get monitoring of her baby’s status,” KF adds. “Vastin is very grateful for the help from Watsi.”
