Meng is an elderly fisherman. He has one daughter and one grandchild, and lives with his wife and his daughter’s family. Their family sells fish at the local market from the river, but since he cannot see he now stays at home. He likes to listen to the news on the radio.
Two years ago, Meng developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision, difficulty seeing in low or dim light. Colors look washed out to him and it is hard for him to do all he used to.
When Meng learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On January 6th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I’m looking forward to helping my family with fishing again,” shared Meng.
