Sorng is a 24-year-old rubber farmer who lives in Prey Veng province with his wife and in-laws. Sorng collects sap from the rubber trees at a nearby rubber plantation, and both his parents and in-laws are rice farmers. In his free time, he enjoys singing and doing karaoke.
In September 2022, he was running an errand for his mother-in-law when a truck crashed into his motorbike and caused a fracture in his left leg. He was treated at a nearby clinic and received medicine from a traditional healer in his village, but the fracture has not healed. It is difficult for him to walk, and he is in chronic pain.
Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, can help. On September 19, Sorng will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $483. This procedure will allow him to walk easily again.
He shared, “I hope I can start to walk on my own again and go back to work to support my family.”

Sorng underwent leg surgery so he can walk again.
Sorng traveled two and a half hours to Children’s Surgical Centre where doctors treated his fractured leg. He is going to get physiotherapy exercises to increase muscle strength and flexibility after recovery. It may take up to two months to heal completely, but he is pleased with his care and hopes he can soon return to work and support his family.
Sorng said: “I am grateful I will no longer have pain and my fracture will be fixed. It is thanks to the staff and the people who support us that we can get good care to work and feed our families.”
