Sara is a 63-year-old patient coordinator from Cambodia. She has one brother and one sister. Unfortunately, her husband passed away during the Pol Pot regime. She enjoys watching Khmer dramas on television and listening to the monks pray on the radio.
Three years ago, Sara developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her itchiness, tearing, and blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sara learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On April 29th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I hope that my aunt can see everything better so she can go anywhere again. She wants to be able to join ceremonies at far away pagodas and I hope now she can travel to them,” Sara’s niece said.
