Rapheal is a teenage boy from Rukungiri, Uganda. He is the eldest in his family and has two younger brothers. His father has a small retail shop and farms to complement his income. His mother stays at home and helps with farming to put food on the table. Rapheal dreams of becoming a teacher one day. Since birth, Rapheal has had a supraumbilical hernia. He has been experiencing pain when walking, sitting, using the bathroom and, whenever he does strenuous activities. Surgery has been recommended but his parents cannot raise the required funds. Fortunately, on September 3rd, Rapheal will undergo hernia repair surgery and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund the surgery. Upon completion, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Raphael's mother says, “I trust that with your support, my child will be able to undergo his surgery and expect a complete recovery.”

Vuthy is a 23-year-old air conditioner technician from Cambodia. He lives with his parents, two siblings, his uncle, and his uncle's wife in Krong Kampong Cham. They are all farmers, growing rice and potatoes, while his youngest brother is in 1st grade. In his free time, he enjoys checking his social media and playing soccer with his friends. When he was four years old, Vuthy had an ear infection. This infection caused a cholesteatoma, an abnormal skin growth that developed in the middle ear behind the ear drum. For this reason, Vuthy experiences hearing loss and discomfort with occasional episodes of ear discharge. This condition makes it difficult for him to hear at work and communicate with his customers, family, and friends. On May 30th, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, will help Vuthy undergo a mastoidectomy procedure in his left ear. During this procedure, ENT surgeons will remove the cholesteatoma. Vuthy and his family are able to contribute $150 but need $776 more to fund this procedure. After surgery, he hopes for improved hearing and to return to work without any problems.

Ith is a 12-year-old student from Cambodia. He is the youngest child in his family, with two older sisters who work in a clothing factory, and a brother who works at a casino. His father is a fisherman, and his mother is a homemaker. In 2021, Ith suffered an electric burn on his hands and thighs. Burn scar contractures have developed on his hands, tightening the skin around his ring and pinkie fingers. Ith can't flex his fingers, making it difficult for him to write and keep up with his schoolwork. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is here to help. On September 9th, surgeons will perform a burn contracture release surgery, to improve Ith's hand function. Ith's family can contribute $50 but needs help to raise $445 more to fund Ith's procedure and care. Ith's parents shared, "We hope that after the surgery, he will be able to use his hand more easily and focus on his studies."
