Hillary is a cool, caring 39-year-old man from Kenya. He is a middle child and lives at home with his parents and younger brother. Hillary experiences epilepsy and cannot talk or work due to his condition. His elderly parents are retired, and his brother practices small-scale farming and works labor jobs in the neighborhood to help earn a living for his family. Hillary recently fell from his bed and injured his arm and hand. He visited a nearby government facility and was diagnosed with a displaced fracture in his left humerus and received a splint. As Hillary is still experiencing pain, swelling, and discomfort in his arm, his family brought him to our medical partner's care center. Upon review, the doctor advised that Hillary needs surgery since the fracture is too displaced to heal with a splint. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On May 16th, Hillary will undergo a fracture repair procedure called an open reduction and internal fixation. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $1,145 to fund this procedure. Hillary's brother says, "My brother has had a lot of challenges in his life, and when I see him crying with pain, I feel hurt. I am so hopeful that he will get treatment and that he will live comfortably once again. Kindly help him."

Magret is a 49-year-old small scale farmer from Uganda. She is a single mother of four children and lives in a two-room mud house. Her oldest child is 28 years old and recently received a diploma, but has not yet found a job. Her second born child unfortunately left school after primary school class seven due to a lack of school fees. Her thirdborn child is 21 years old and in secondary school class four, while her youngest is 17 years old and in secondary school class two. She pays for their school fees through her work as a farmer. Since August 2022, Magret has been experiencing lower abdominal pains. She visited a nearby health clinic where she was prescribed medication that helped for some time, but her symptoms returned earlier this year. She is in pain but cannot stop farming because she relies on it to care for her family. Magret has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and needs to undergo a hysterectomy, or a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Magret receive treatment. On April 14th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at AMH's care center. Once recovered, Magret will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Now, she needs help raising $319 to fund her procedure and care. Magret shared, "I believe that I will get well through surgery. I hope to continue with farming comfortably after surgery so that I may be able to continue taking good care of myself and my family."

Alex is a small-scale farmer and a middle-aged, determined gentleman who undertook a four-hour journey to seek treatment here at our facility. He is a father to three children who are all studying. He loves grazing and taking care of animals, mostly goats and sheep. He wished to be a teacher, but after his own father and mother died, he was left with no one to pay for his school, so he dropped out at the fifth grade. However, being the firstborn, he decided to support his family and managed to fund the education of all his siblings. Two of his brothers are now teachers, and one is a nurse. He earns a living from growing crops like groundnuts and maize. His wife is also a farmer like him. Alex came in to the hospital with a swelling on his shoulders which he has had for over 12 years. It started small but kept increasing in size over time. He experiences a piercing pain and paralysis due to this mass. His quality of life has been affected too, as he is no longer able to work in the farm as he used to do before. He had never seen the doctor due to limited finances, but when symptoms became severe, he decided to come to visit a doctor. On May 23rd, surgeons will remove the mass to help him heal and get back to his day-to-day life. Now, Alex needs help to raise $137 to fund this procedure. Alex says, “I think the burden I have been having will be relieved once I am given your support and operated.”
