Meet 18-year-old Panith, a pop-music lover from Cambodia. When Panith isn’t listening to the latest hits on Cambodian radio, she’s working hard at a nearby garment factory.
When Panith was three-years-old, she burned her left hand badly when a pot of boiling cooking oil fell on it. Although she received immediate care, the severity of her burns caused contractures, or inflexible pieces of skin that cover the scar tissue. The damaged skin has caused a permanent bend in her fingers that limits its function. Without treatment, Panith will continue to face challenges at work and in day-to-day life.
Although she has been able to manage her condition, doctors can perform a simple, $300 procedure that would release the tension on her burned skin and insert a skin graft. This would allow Panith to have full mobility in her hand and allow her to work more successfully. Let’s help Panith get the treatment she needs!
