Keath is a 50-year-old woman from Cambodia, who is disabled and unable to work. She has one older sister. Keath enjoys visiting the pagoda to join in ceremonies. She traveled three hours with her sister to reach Watsi’s medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) for treatment.
Keath developed a cataract in each eye three years ago. This causes her blurred vision, tearing, and she can’t go outside easily on her own.
After a phaco procedure and intra-ocular lens (IOL) implant in each eye, Keath will be able to see clearly again. This procedure will cost $292. Let’s help restore Keath’s vision!

Keath can see clearly again.
Doctors removed the cataract from Keath’s right eye. As she recovers, she will use eye drops to reduce inflammation and fight infection. Keath’s vision has been restored.
Keath returned home after the surgery, and she has yet to return to our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), for surgery on her left eye. Returning to the clinic is not easy for Keath, as it requires a family escort. Now that sight has been restored to one eye, however, the second surgery is less urgent than the first. Treatment will be free whenever Keath returns.
Keath says, “I feel very happy that I can see everything clearly again, so that I can go anywhere outside and go to the pagoda on my own.”
Keath’s sister, who accompanied her to treatment, adds, “I am very happy that my sister can see everything clearly again…I am thankful to all staff at CSC that helped on her eye surgery.”
