Thytha is a 69-year-old vegetable seller with two sons, two daughters, and eight grandchildren. She likes to watch the news and Khmer dramas on TV, and she enjoys visiting the pagoda to listen to monks pray.
Two years ago, Thytha developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, working, and going anywhere on her own.
When Thytha learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for one hour seeking treatment. On November 24, doctors performed a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, Thytha will be able to see clearly again. Now, she needs help to fund this $292 procedure.
“I hope I can see everything more clearly,” she says, “so that I can continue my work as a seller and easily look after my grandchildren. I want to be able to go anywhere without needing to disturb others to take care of me.”
