Pheng is a 39-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He is married and has three children. His wife is also a farmer, and the family currently lives with his mother-in-law. In the past, Pheng enjoyed playing sports, but due to his current health, he no longer has the energy. During his free time, he now prefers doing household activities.
Three months ago, Pheng had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the eardrum, in his right ear to perforate. For this reason, Pheng experiences pain in the right ear, chronic ear discharge, tinnitus, and hearing loss. Pheng’s ear condition began after an insect entered his ear, and a local clinic accidentally damaged his eardrum during cleaning. Since then, he has struggled with pain, reduced hearing, and constant discomfort. This condition makes it hard for him to do his job and support his family properly.
Pheng visited our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, to seek treatment. On July 8th, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. His family can contribute $100, but needs help to raise $263 more to fund his procedure and care.
Peng shared: “I hope after surgery, I will have no more pain and be able to hear clearly again.”
