Meet Madina. She is 18-months-old and lives with her parents and siblings in Kenya.
“Madina was born without an anal opening,” AMHF tells us. “She had a colostomy seven days after she was born in a local hospital but her parents did not have the money needed for the following surgeries that she needed.” Because of this, Madina continues to be infection-prone.
The AMHF team has recommended that Madina have follow-up surgery so that she can pass stool with ease. The cost of the surgery is $1500 - well out of the family’s reach.
“All I want is to have my daughter treated,” says Madina’s mother. “I am hoping that we’ll get the support she needs for this surgery.” Let’s help keep Madina infection-free by funding her care.

“After Madina had a PSARP [pull through procedure] November last year, she was scheduled for for a colostomy closure in April this year however, she was unable to come back to the hospital for a long time,” explains her doctor at African Mission Healthcare Foundation. “Madina has finally had a colostomy closure and she is now able to pass stool on her own. She is no longer prone to infection.”
“I am so happy to see my daughter pass stool normally. Thank you for your kind support through all the procedures,” shares Madina’s mother.
