Lucia is a baby from southern Bolivia. Her mother stays home with her, and her father is a delivery driver. Lucia was born with a heart condition called coarctation of the aorta. A major blood vessel leading to the heart is too small, which leaves Lucia weak and unable to properly grow. Additionally, she has turner syndrome. Lucia needs surgery to open the aorta to its full size. This will allow blood to flow more easily so she can grow up healthy. Lucia's mother states: "Our family is so happy to know that our daughter can finally have this surgery; we have been hoping for this opportunity since she was born."

Umaru is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. He farms on his small piece of land, mainly growing food crops for home consumption and selling the surplus to generate income for his family. Umaru came in presenting with an umbilical swelling, which he has had for close to 6 months. The pain and swelling progressed over time, affecting his movement and ability to perform daily activities. Umaru was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia and the doctors recommended for him to have surgery to remove the mass. Umaru traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On March 5th, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Umaru needs help to raise $188 to fund this procedure. Umaru says, "With support, I hope to undergo my surgery, expect to get better, and continue farming in good health to sustain my family."

Bunna is a 6-year-old first-grader from Cambodia. She lives with her parents and younger brother. Her mom works in a garment factory and her dad recently got a job at a nearby construction site. Bunna loves math and science, and hopes to be a nurse and help people in her village when she grows up. For the last two years, Bunna has been experiencing difficulty swallowing and breathing, accompanied by recurring episodes of pharyngitis. Additionally, she has noticed a decrease in appetite, resulting in weight loss and fatigue. Frequent illness causes her to miss school. Bunna was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $265 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Bunna, which is scheduled to take place on March 11th. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Bunna of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably. Bunna's mother shared, "I hope that my daughter can feel healthy and not miss so many school days."
