Johnson is an 84-year-old man from Uganda. Johnson is a herdsman in his village, and he looks after people’s cattle for income to support his family. Johnson enjoys grazing cattle, visiting friends and relatives, singing and dancing to traditional songs, and telling legendary stories to his grandchildren during his free time.
For the last 12 years, Johnson has lived with a hernia and experienced mild pain and discomfort. In the last two months, his pain continued to worsen. A village health team member advised Johnson to go to our medical partner’s care center, Bwindi Community Hospital, for treatment. At the hospital, his doctor diagnosed him with a right scrotal hernia and recommended that Johnson undergo a hernia repair to relieve his pain and discomfort.
On September 14, Johnson will undergo hernia repair surgery. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, has requested $229 to fund Johnson’s treatment. This money will cover the full cost of Johnson’s treatment, including a five-night hospital stay, supplies, medication, labs, and physician time. After treatment, Johnson hopes to go to church and thank God and also to continue grazing cattle. Johnson is very grateful to Watsi donors for supporting his treatment.
