Dennis is a hardworking tricycle driver from the Philippines. He lives with his wife, Marecar, and their three-year-old child. Despite his hard work and dedication, Dennis's income is just enough for his family's basic needs but not for his needed surgical treatment. In October 2022, Dennis began to experience troubling symptoms, including pain and bleeding in a sensitive area. He sought medical consultation and was advised to undergo a colonoscopy. He was prescribed medicines to relieve the pain, but unfortunately, it has continued. He was then forced to have another medical checkup and was diagnosed with bleeding internal hemorrhoids, which gives him discomfort and pain, and hinders him from working to support his family. He needs surgery to prevent his symptoms from getting worse. Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Dennis receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo a hemorrhoidectomy on June 20th at WSFP's care center. The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation is supporting a portion of the cost of his treatment, and WSFP is raising the remaining $1,285 to cover the cost of Dennis's procedure and care. Dennis shared, "I am very thankful to Watsi, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, and those helping us get this surgery done. It is such a big help for me and my family."

Thy is a 43-year-old mother who lives with her husband and daughter in Prey Veng province. Her husband grows rice, and her daughter works in an office. Thy supplements the family income by selling spices and snacks from a small grocery in front of their house. When not selling snacks, she is busy keeping her house clean or cooking for her small family. Seven days ago, Thy slipped and fell on a wet muddy road. Her left wrist has become swollen, and she is unable to hold anything. Thy and her husband traveled by tuk-tuk for 2 and a half hours to reach Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) where surgeons diagnosed her with a wrist fracture. On September 8th, Thy will undergo a closed reduction of her wrist fracture. Thy is able to contribute $50 towards the cost of the surgery and needs help raising $485 to fully fund the procedure. The broken bone will be put back in place, which will allow it to grow back together in better alignment. After surgery, she will be able to use her hand again. Thy said, "After surgery, I hope I can use my hand without pain and open my grocery store again."

Lay Hong is a 6-year-old first grader who lives in Takeo province with his single mom. His uncle and other relatives help care for him while his mom works in a nearby athletic shoe factory. Lay Hong loves soccer, playing with his friends, and his Cambodian Studies class. Lay Hong was born with macrodactyly of his right thumb. His thumb is abnormally large due to an overgrowth of the underlying bones and soft tissue. It is difficult for him to use his dominant hand for everyday tasks, including writing in school. Fortunately, surgery can help this congenital problem. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), has arranged for surgeons to perform a macrodactyly repair procedure on November 2nd. CSC is requesting $444 to fund this procedure. After surgery, his doctors hope that Lay Hong's hand will have improved function and appearance. Lay Hong's mom shared, "I hope my son can use his hand easily and it will be easy for him to go to school and play with his friends.
