Allen is a hardworking farmer and single mother to two children, both of whom are still studying. Allen is 45 years old and studied up to the 4th grade as a child, but had to end her education when the school fees became too expensive for her family. Allen lost her husband in 2002 in a road traffic accident, leaving Allen her as a single mother working hard to make enough to afford day-to-day essentials. Allen’s recent medical condition has now hindered her working capacity. Allen needs her health to survive and provide for her children.
Starting two months ago, Allen has been experiencing severe lower abdominal pain, backache, headache, and dizziness. Allen has been diagnosed with premalignant cervical lesion and will need to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Allen raise $219 to cover the cost of this life altering surgery. On March 29th, Allen will undergo surgery at our medical partner’s care center. Once recovered, she’ll be able to resume her daily activities free of pain.
Allen says, “I am all my children have got to live and go to school, and with me in poor health, I can do nothing to help them achieve their dreams, but I hope that with your support, my surgery will be possible, I will regain my health and continue with farming to sustain them.”
