Following the loss of her husband to stomach cancer several years ago, Srean moved in with her youngest daughter, a fisherwoman in Kandal province. Once a rice farmer before retirement, Srean now enjoys a simple lifestyle, taking walks and listening to the radio.
Two years ago, Srean developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, burning and headache from eye strain. A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye, so it is like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window.
When Srean learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On January 24th, doctors will perform small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $253 procedure.
Srean shared: “I hope after surgery I can take more walks and take care of my grandchildren and my self.”
