Loise Glory is a three-year-old girl from Philippines with a cleft lip and palate. Due to this congenital condition, Loise has speech difficulties and trouble eating properly. Loise’s mother is accepting of her daughter’s condition, but seeks treatment for her in earnest to prevent her from being bullied.
Apart from her condition, Loise is a joyful girl who is always smiling. She likes to play indoor games because outside she was bullied by other children. They called her names pertaining to her speech difficulties and physical appearance, causing her mother great pain. Loise is not yet in school, so she spends a lot of time playing at home with her brother.
Loise’s mother is a participant in a community sponsored by Watsi’s medical partner, International Care Ministries. When she found that she could receive help for her daughter, she jumped at the opportunity.
Loise’s father is the only one who earns income for the family. He is a loader operator and makes $80 a month– barely enough to cover the family’s day-to-day needs. Accordingly, the family needs help to cover the $505 surgery to repair Loise’s cleft lip and palate. After her surgery, Loise will be able to eat properly again and her family can begin to focus on correcting her speech problems.
Loise’s mother shared, “As a mother it is hard for me to see my child get bullied because of her condition. Though I wanted so much to let her be treated, we couldn’t because we couldn’t afford the expenses of the surgery. It was an answered prayer to us that there are people willing to help my daughter. Thank you so much in advance for your help. This surgery can change our lives, especially Loise’s.”
