Prudence is a 30-year-old nurse from Uganda who is married with two children. Her husband previously worked in road construction but is currently out of work. The family shared that they rely on Prudence’s income to meet their needs.
About eight months ago, Prudence visited her village and developed a severe cough after traveling. Eventually, she lost her voice but was hopeful that her condition would heal once the medication relieved her cough. However, when Prudence continued to experience voice loss on and off, she visited a doctor. Her scans revealed she has a thyroid complex cyst, and the doctors recommend surgery to address her condition and the risk of further complications.
Fortunately, Prudence traveled to the care center at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), to receive treatment. On November 20th, surgeons will remove the mass. AMH is requesting $145 to fund Prudence’s procedure.
Prudence shared, “I hope to get relieved of the mass in my thyroid so that I may regain my voice fully like I used to be before. I hope to continue my usual day-to-day duties as a nurse after my recovery.”
