Silivia is a hardworking farmer and a caring mother. She and her husband work hard to provide for their five children. Her husband operates a small retail shop. Their children are still young and currently attend school. Silivia shared that she loves spending time with them and teaching them the Koran.
Four years ago, Silivia began to experience troubling symptoms, including neck swelling, persistent headaches, and shortness of breath. She was diagnosed with bilateral goitre, caused by the swelling of her thyroid glands. She initially attempted to treat her condition with traditional herbs, but this did not relieve her symptoms. Silivia eventually sought out help at our medical partner’s care center, where she discovered that she would need surgery to prevent her symptoms from worsening and causing further health complications.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Silivia receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on July 5th at our medical partner’s care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $252, and she and her family need help raising money.
Silivia shared: “Once operated on, I pray that Allah may bless me with good health, and I hope to continue with farming to sustain my family.”
