Nora certainly is cute! She is in second grade, has one sister, and her favorite thing is playing "snake" on her dad's mobile phone. Making the smile in the photo must have been difficult, as Nora broke her jaw in a motorbike accident two weeks ago. Since the accident, she has been in a lot of pain and has swelling on the side of her face.
Nora was referred to the Children's Surgical Centre in Cambodia from her local hospital so that she could get a small plate to fully repair her jaw. This special ORIF surgery (open reduction internal fixation, a method of surgically repairing a fractured bone that uses plates and screws) will decrease her pain. It will also reduce her risk of infection and improve her cosmetic outcome.
The total cost of the surgery will be $300, a cost well worth a future of happy smiles for Nora!
