This is San, a 72-year-old man from Cambodia. San has 14 children and seven grandchildren! Before losing his vision, San enjoyed watching the news on TV and reading. “San is partially blind because of the mature cataracts in his eyes,” says our medical partner Children’s Surgical Centre. “For four years, he has been unable to see anything clearly and has a hard time working on the rice farm and helping to support and care for his big family.” For just $150, we can ensure San gets access to the medical treatment he needs. This is Mary, a 44-year-old woman from Kenya. Recently, a routine cancer screening revealed that Mary has cervical cancer. Mary needs a total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) to treat her cancer. However, as a single mother of three, she often struggles to make ends meet on her housemaid's salary as it is. She cannot afford the $885 surgery. Eremon is 14-year-old boy from the northernmost region of Kenya. Eremon has a deformity in one leg, called a "knock knee," which makes his leg angle inward and causes pain and limited mobility. A $1,000 corrective leg surgery will repair Eremon's knee and restore him to physical shape that will allow him to walk, run, and increase his balance. Moses is a 5-year-old boy with clubfeet, a congenital condition that causes the feet to turn inward. Without treatment, it will be difficult for Moses to walk normally or live an active life. Fortunately, doctors at African Mission Healthcare Foundation can perform surgery to correct Moses’ condition. They expect the procedure will relieve his pain and enable him to walk. Moses comes from a small village. He was referred to this program specifically because of his family’s inability to pay for his medical care.
