Koem Sreang is a 40-year-old market seller from Cambodia. She has both a son and a daughter and enjoys playing with them in her free time.
When she was 15 years old, Koem Sreang had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Koem Sreang experiences discharge, itchiness, pain, and hearing loss. She is not able to listen very well and has a difficult time understanding others.
Koem Sreang traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On March 7, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care.
She says, "I hope that after my surgery is complete, I will be able to hear again and won't have any problems communicating with my family."
