“Her mother thinks that she is the cutest baby girl in the world, but she is extremely worried that she may lose her from this condition,” our partners at African Mission Healthcare Foundation explain. This is Tikidem, a five-month-old baby girl from Ethiopia. Tikidem was born with Hirschprung’s disease, a condition that makes passing stool difficult due to intestinal abnormalities. She underwent colostomy surgery as a newborn, and has been using it to pass stool since then. This puts her at risk of infection, and will affect her social life as she grows up. Tikidem is in need of surgery that will repair her large intestine and allow her to digest and pass food properly, without risk of infection. Her parents are unable to afford the treatment she needs. For $1,500, Tikidem can receive surgery to allow her to grow and develop healthily. Let's help fund it!

His parents' first child, Puskar is one, and has been learning to walk. Recently, when trying to stand he didn't quite make it, fell back, and sat on his own leg. Unfortunately, this fractured the femur bone in Puskar's thigh, and now his leg is swollen and painful. Puskar has problems feeding and sleeping because of the pain. Puskar lives with his parents and paternal grandmother. The family does not own any land that they can farm, so making ends meet can sometimes prove difficult. Puskar's father earns his livelihood by working in other people's fields. He also works in a hotel, but still doesn't earn enough to afford medical care for Puskar's fracture. For the ridiculously low price of $205, Puskar will get a hip spica, an orthopedic cast used to immobilize the thigh, to allow the healing of his fractured femur. This will reduce his constant pain and allow him to feed and sleep like a happy baby again. It will also ensure that he can get back to learning to walk with strong and healthy bones after the cast is removed. His mother says, "I want to see him walking," and so do we! Let's make that possible for Puskar.

Ashish is a four-year-old boy from Nepal who has an inguinal hernia. Ashish suffers from daily pain and limited mobility. If left untreated, his condition can cause long-term impairment of his intestines. Ashish lives with his family on a plot of land they tend themselves. The family's great dream is for Ashish to go to college one day. A $1,390 surgery can remove Ashish's hernia and allow him to walk around and move like all the other boys his age!

Cynthia was born with hydrocephalus, a condition in which fluid builds up in the skull and puts life-threatening pressure on the brain. When her condition became evident, Cynthia's mother Ester was confused and scared for her child’s health. She is doing her best to seek treatment and help Cynthia grow up normally. Now, at one year old, the fluid pressure is causing Cynthia’s eyes to bulge. Her doctors say that soon she won’t be able to shut them. She needs shunt placement surgery, or an endoscopy of the third ventricle in her brain, to drain the excess fluid. By funding her treatment, we can help Cynthia avoid fatal brain damage and hopefully enable her to make her developmental milestones like a normal baby.
