“We have really worked hard to try to get the right treatment for our son and we came across many obstacles," Patrick's mother says, "but we still have hope. We hope that our son will one day walk properly, allowing him to continue with normal growth and have the ability to perform well in various activities.” Patrick is an eighteen-month-old from Tanzania. The second born in his family, behind Patrick’s serious demeanor is a curious mind, constantly analyzing and absorbing the world around him. He is happiest around his mother or when playing with cars. Patrick was born with unilateral clubfoot, requiring him to use the lateral aspect of his right foot for walking. This makes him walk and run slowly compared to other children, and will turn into a life-long disability if left untreated. “Patrick’s parents are small scale farmers, mostly relying on growing and selling maize and peanuts,” says AMHF. “Given that they only own a small piece of land, even what they get is little. Coming up with the money to cover the cost of treatment for their son has been difficult.” Together, we can help Patrick get access to the medical care he needs to grow up to be a strong young man, walking and running with all of the other children. $1,160 will cover Patrick’s treatment which will include x-rays, braces, and surgery.

Meet Deonisi, a smiling four-year-old boy from Tanzania! “Deonisi is the first born in the family and he is very protective of his little brother,” shares our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation. “Deonisi likes to play with his little brother. Lately he has been enjoying playing with the Lego blocks as well as coloring some pictures.” Deonisi has been diagnosed with bilateral genu valgus, a disorder that affects his gait. His doctors tell us that he "walks with difficulty and will have an increased risk of developing early osteoarthirtis if not treated." Deonisi’s parents are small scale farmers that earn mainly seasonal income; while they work hard to try to cover their daily needs, they need help to cover the cost of Deonisi’s medical care. Deonisi's father says, "We hope that Deonisi's deformity can be corrected so that he can walk normally and Lord willing when he grows up he will be responsible and helpful to us and other people as well."

Meet Sokhy, a 24-year-old hardworking student from Cambodia. Sokhy, who was working part-time to help off-set his tuition costs, dislocated and fractured his right hip in a moto accident. For almost two years, Sokhy has been unable to walk or sit. His family has been helping to take care of him, now that he is unable to continue working and studying. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, explains, “Since he has very little money as is, Sokhy thought he was out of options for proper treatment, until a friend told him about our services.” With $405, Sokhy can receive the necessary treatment that will allow him to walk and sit without pain, and get back into school.
