Eddy is a student from Kenya. He is in the seventh grade and the firstborn in a family of three children. His mother is separated from their father which has left her to take charge of her children's upbringing. Eddy likes to play a lot but his condition is hindering him from playing and it has become a concern for his mother. Eddy was born with hypospadias, a congenital abnormality that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of infertility. Fortunately, Eddy is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on July 7th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $710 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Eddy's mother shared, "I have struggled with my son since he was a few weeks old. I have seen him struggle with his social life and hope I can get him help and pray that this time his surgery will be successful. He is my firstborn and my hope for the family."

Rida is a girl from Cambodia. She has one brother and one sister. She likes to play with friends, watch TV, and go for walks with her family. She wants to be a banker when she grows up. Rida was born with scoliosis, which is progressing with age, making it difficult to sit in school for long periods, and causing a lot of discomfort. Surgery can help correct the position of her spine, and prevent further worsening of the condition. Spinal surgery is scheduled for January 21 and will cost $1,500. Her mother says, "I hope my daughter feels better after the operation and does not have any more difficulty sleeping."

Kesny is a student from Haiti. He lives with his mother in Cap Haitien, a city on the northern coast of Haiti. He is in the ninth grade and enjoys school and going to church. Kesny has a cardiac condition called rheumatic heart disease. As a younger child, Kesny suffered a severe rheumatic fever, which damaged all four valves of his heart. As a result, his heart cannot adequately pump blood through his body and he is in late-stage heart failure. Kesny will fly to the United States to receive treatment. On March 26, he will undergo cardiac surgery, during which surgeons will repair or replace all four of the damaged valves in his heart. Another organization, The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano, is contributing $60,000 to pay for surgery. Kesny's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. The $1,500 bill covers labs, medicines, and checkup and followup appointments. It also supports passport obtainment and the social workers from our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Kesny's family overseas. He says, "I am looking forward to being able to stop worrying about my heart after my surgery!"
