“I want to be treated,” shares Frankline, a six-year-old boy who lives with his grandmother in Kenya.
“When Frankline was four-years-old, his grandmother noticed that the area of his groin was swollen,” our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), tells us. “Frankline’s testes did not descend in the scrotal sac as expected in a baby boy soon after birth. Funds were raised through generous contributions from family and friends, and a hernia repair was done.”
Frankline now needs a bilateral orchidopexy—an operation which will place his testes in the scrotum.
“If Frankline is not treated, this condition may cause complications such as inguinal hernia, testicular torsion, and fertility problems in the future,” AMHF explains.
“Frankline’s parents are separated and his mother works in Nairobi, where she lives with his younger brother,” AMHF continues. “She sends what little she can back to their rural home, where Frankline lives with his grandmother. His grandmother practices subsistence farming to support them.”
Despite efforts to raise more funds, Frankline’s family is unable to cover the cost of the $570 surgery.
Frankline’s mother shares, “I have no means to fund my son’s surgical care. Please help us in any way you can.”
