Meet Richard, a cute, one-year old baby boy from Tanzania. Richard likes to play with cars and crawl around. He is an only child and his parents “love him very much," says our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF). Richard was born with bilateral clubfoot. This congenital deformity has delayed his ability to begin walking, and if not treated, Richard will not have the ability to walk on the sole of his foot or wear normal shoes. For $1,160, we can fund treatment that will allow Richard to walk normally for the rest of his life. The cost of the treatment includes cost for the surgery as well as a fiberglass cast. Richard's parents are small-scale farmers and have “already spent a lot of money trying to look for the right treatment for their son without success. Now that they have found where the clubfoot can be corrected, they do not have enough funds to cover the treatment,” says our partner, AMHF. Let's help Richard get walking. “I hope to have another successful surgery so I don’t have to be such a burden on my daughter and family. I want to help cook and look after my grandchildren and visit family,” says Yoy. Yoy is a 78-year-old mother and grandmother from Cambodia. Yoy has blurry vision due to a mature cataract in her left eye. “Cataract surgery will improve Yoy’s eyesight and prevent blindness,” explains our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre. Yoy is unable to pay the cost of surgery on her own but together we can raise $150 for her cataract surgery. With your help, Yoy will return to a happier and healthier life!

“Anne-Keila is our first baby. I would love to see her walk normally and have a healthy life like the other kids,” explains Anne-Keila’s father. Meet Anne-Keila, a 14-month-old baby girl living in Haiti. Anne-Keila lives in the Haitian countryside with her parents, who are both small farmers. Farming does not provide a substantial income and Anne-Keila’s parents are unable to afford the medical treatment Anne-Keila needs. Anne-Keila was born with hydrocephalus, a condition causing an excessive accumulation of fluid in the brain, massive head size and sun setting eyes. If untreated, this condition can lead to brain damage, a loss in mental and physical abilities, and even death. We can fund a successful treatment for $1,260. Doctors will drain the excess fluid in Anne-Keila’s head and prevent more fluid from accumulating. This treatment will save her life and allow her to be healthy and go to school in the future. Miraa is a one-year-old boy living with his parents and two older siblings in Tanzania. His father tends to a few cattle and works as a shop keeper, while his mother takes care of the family at home. Our partners at African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF) tell us, “Miraa is a quiet and very shy boy. He likes being close to his mother. In the afternoon when the sun is shining and his mother is relaxing in the sun with the other mothers, he likes to sit a short distance from his mother playing with other children.” Miraa was born with unilateral club foot. Club foot is a congenital condition in which the foot appears to have been rotated inward at the ankle. AMHF explains, “His left foot deformity will affect his gait if not treated, and Miraa will also have an increased risk of developing early osteoarthritis of the small bones.” “Miraa is my only son and I want him to be able to herd his father’s cattle when he grows up and be like other boys; walk and run properly,” Miraa’s mother tell us.
