Meet Chanry, a four-year-old from Cambodia who is the youngest of three children. Chanry loves to eat fish and pork, and she has not started school yet.
"Chanry was burned by a cooking fire two years ago that left contractures of her fingers, hand, and wrist," shares our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC).
These contractures, which happen when the skin surrounding a burn scar pulls together and tightens, restrict Chanry’s motion and make it difficult for her to hold things. If untreated, the burn marks, as well as her restricted movements, will make it difficult for her to begin school and participate in other normal activities.
For $240, Chanry will receive treatment for her first degree burns. Her fingers and hand will heal, and she will be able to hold things normally again. Chanry's mother wishes for a successful treatment so her daughter's hand will look and function normally.
