Gian is a young boy from Kenya. Gian’s mother sells clothes and his father is a private school teacher. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gian’s father has not been receiving any monthly income because learning in institutions has been suspended until the pandemic is over. This has made it hard for his parents to earn enough money for his surgery because they only get enough for basic needs of their family of four. Gian has a twin brother who also needs surgery. Gian was born with hypospadias, a congenital abnormality that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of infertility. Fortunately, Gian is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on July 13th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $735 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Gian’s mother says: “Having gone through several revision surgeries, I am praying and hoping that this surgery will be successful.”

Joseph is a brave 8-year-old boy from Karanjee Village in Kenya. He is the youngest in a family of 3 children and he is in seventh grade. He and his siblings live with their mother who is a casual laborer working in neighbor’s farms to earn an income for their family. Joseph was diagnosed with cryptorchidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles remains undescended. If left untreated, Joseph has an increased risk of developing hernias, testicular cancer, and fertility problems in the future. Joseph will be receiving assistance from our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMH). Fortunately, he is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on June 11th. AMH is requesting $506 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. "My boy is now getting big and I would not like to risk his future with infertility. Kindly support us as I am the breadwinner with no one to turn to. I hope my son will have successful corrective treatment so that he can be like other boys,” said Josephs’ mother.

Meet Robinah, a 16-year-old farmer who grows numerous crops with her large family. When Robinah is not tending to the fields, she can be found cooking or playing with her many nieces and nephews. Robinah also enjoys weaving mats and blankets during her free time. Robinah is pregnant, and because of her age, her doctors consider her pregnancy to be high-risk. They recommend that she receive medical attention before, during, and after labor to ensure a safe delivery. On May 5, she will begin to receive supplements and attend antenatal checkups and health education classes. She will deliver her baby in the hospital, and she will undergo a C-section if necessary. After birth, Robinah and her baby will be monitored by the hospital staff. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $241 to fund hospital monitoring for Robinah. Robinah's mother is grateful for the support her daughter will receive. She says, "Thank you for the help for my daughter. We are struggling with many people to care for. This help with a hospital delivery is a great blessing.” Robinah is looking forward to nursing and raising her new baby.
